Lath Fascia It – This System Deserves Better Press!

You would be forgiven for not knowing what a Lath and Fascia is!
This practical and hugely underrated curtain system often gets overlooked when trying to figure out how to dress a tricky bay window or how to exclude all the light in a room.
The Lath and Fascia certainly deserves better press than it currently gets because it offers a simple and stylish alternative to the standard bulky pelmet board

which often grabs a lot of the attention in a room. So let’s break it down… CTS London Ltd makes, supplies and fits all its Laths and Fascias. The Lath is made from timber and protrudes from the wall like a mini pelmet. Its purpose is to hide the tracks used to hang curtains and to take up the least possible space while

concealing the gap between the track and wall.

The Fascia is a 5cm deep strip of flexible hardboard timber that forms the front of the wooden lath. Different to a full pelmet, the Fascia only drops down as deep as the track and hides the curtains’ operating system when they are open.
Fascias can be covered with the same or contrasting fabric, lined with wallpaper or painted to blend in with the decor.
For anyone who hates having curtain tracks on show, this understated application is a functional alternative.
Lath and Fascia allows an elegant triple pinch pleat header to remain on show as the curtain top sits in front of the fascia rather than under and behind it when the curtains are closed.

Pelmets, on the other hand, hide the curtain header and are the old-fashioned way of dressing the top of a window.
A Lath and Fascia is an unfussy, smart and discreet way to dress a bay window too, as the system is normally anchored above the window architrave and forms a sturdy and secure support structure which has the capability of holding heavy lined and interlined curtains.

The advantages of using Lath and Fascia is that it doesn’t obscure the grandeur of a Victorian or Edwardian window with its beautiful and decorative coving. Curtains work seamlessly on their corded tracks which are concealed within the system. The tailored framework is aesthetically pleasing and because of how it is positioned the unit helps to block out any light that a simple curtain track just on its own would fail to do,

While simple to look at in design, the making-up of a Lath and Fascia for a bay window is a highly skilled job and normally takes two of CTS London Ltd’s skilled fitters between three to four hours to install.

But the final result is definitely worth the wait.
